Dinking In Pickleball Will Take Your Game To The Next Level.
Why is dinking so effective you ask. In Tennis or Padel, you can win by hitting it hard and hitting winner. Lets review a couple reasons why pickleball is so hard to hit a winner.
1. The Kitchen
We are already 7 feet behind the next meaning we can not be on top of the net and put the ball away or hit crazy angels. The kitchen makes it harder to hit winners or add a lot of pace to the balls.
2. Plastic Ball meets Plastic Padddles.
Most balls are made of a plastic the is durbale and hard, but if you have played pickelball before you.. you know it doesnt bounce very well. Nor does it have a lot of bounce of your plastic paddle. (This why we recommend the Flax Fiber Pickleball Paddle made of eco friendly materials.) No matter how strong you hit it, you cant hit it that hard.
3. Low Balls Vs. High Balls.
What is easier for the opponent a low ball or a high ball! Of course a low ball. Hitting to your opponents feet is the best strategy in pickleball. Whether your opponent is at the baseline or the ktichen always find their feet.
Hence this is where DINKING comes into play! When your opponent is at the kitchen, we want to avoiding popping it up and hitting a high ball at all costs. This means hitting a low dink ball that hopefully causes the other team to pop it up and we can crush a high ball at them.
Dinking with your pickleball paddle is a great way to avoid getting the ball smashed at you and set you and partner up for success later in the point. Dinking does take a lot of skill and most importantly patience, but with the proper training you can out dink anyone and earn pop ups all day long from your opponents.
Good luck out there and DINK DINK DINK (then DRIVE!)
